We compared specs across M5, M2, and M1 models, analyzed owner reviews and Amazon ratings, and considered the value proposition of renewed versus new options for sale shoppers. Data checked October 2026.
Chip: M5
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 512GB
Display: 13.6-inch Liquid Retina
Weight: 2.71 lb
Battery: 18 hours
Best for: everyday users who want Apple’s newest chip in the most portable package.
This 13-inch MacBook Air with the M5 chip is the model most worth watching during Prime Big Deal Days. Owners praise the M5 chip’s speed and AI capabilities, noting it handles demanding workflows smoothly while staying completely silent thanks to its fanless design. The 16GB of unified memory and 512GB SSD give you room to multitask and store plenty of files without reaching for external drives.
The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display renders over a billion colors, and the 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View makes video calls feel more professional. Reviewers consistently mention the all-day battery life, which Apple rates at up to 18 hours. Compared to the 15-inch M5, this model weighs nearly a pound less at just 2.71 pounds, making it the better pick if you carry your laptop daily.
Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 keep you connected at the latest wireless standards, and you get two Thunderbolt 4 ports plus MagSafe charging. If you want the newest Apple silicon in a portable form factor, this is the MacBook Air to track during the October sale.
Chip: M5
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 512GB
Display: 15.3-inch Liquid Retina
Weight: 3.32 lb
Battery: 18 hours
Step up from the 13-inch and you land here: a 15-inch workspace with the same M5 performance. The six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos also outperforms the smaller model’s four-speaker setup, making this a strong fit for anyone who watches a lot of video or takes frequent video calls.
The 15-inch MacBook Air with M5 chip gives you the same cutting-edge performance as its 13-inch sibling but with significantly more workspace. Owners love the 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display for multitasking, noting that the extra screen space makes a real difference for productivity work.
At 3.32 pounds, it’s still remarkably thin and portable for a 15-inch laptop. The M5 chip handles demanding workflows with ease, and reviewers report smooth performance even with multiple apps open. You get the same 18 hours of rated battery life, plus Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for modern connectivity.
Good to know: The larger footprint makes this less ideal if you work from coffee shops or tight spaces regularly. If portability matters more than screen space, the 13-inch M5 at product #1 is the better fit.
Chip: M2
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 256GB
Display: 13.6-inch Liquid Retina
Weight: 2.7 lb
Battery: 18 hours
Best for: value seekers who want M2 performance without the M5 price tag.
This renewed 2022 MacBook Air with M2 chip offers the best entry point for shoppers wanting Apple’s previous-generation silicon. With 843 owner reviews and a 4.4-star rating, it stands as one of the more established renewed picks in our list. The M2 chip still handles everyday tasks smoothly, and most buyers report their units arrived in excellent condition.
The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display matches the newer M5 models’ screen quality, and you still get up to 18 hours of battery life. The MagSafe charging port and two Thunderbolt 3 ports provide flexible connectivity. Compared to the M1 option at product #5, this M2 model delivers faster performance and a better display for a modest price difference.
Skip it if: you need more than 256GB of storage or want a full Apple warranty. The 90-day renewed warranty is shorter than new products, and a few reviewers mention minor cosmetic wear. If storage matters more, see the 512GB M2 option at product #4.
Chip: M2
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 512GB
Display: 13.6-inch Liquid Retina
Weight: 2.7 lb
Battery: 18 hours
Twice the storage of the 256GB model at a modest step up, this 512GB M2 Air targets people who’ve run out of room on a base-spec Mac before. The Midnight finish gives it Apple’s signature sleek look, though owners note it shows fingerprints more than lighter colors.
This renewed MacBook Air doubles the storage to 512GB while keeping the same M2 performance and 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display. The extra space matters if you store photos, videos, or large application files locally.
The M2 chip delivers the same strong everyday performance as the 256GB model at product #3, with a fanless design that runs silent. Battery life holds up at up to 18 hours, and the MagSafe charging makes it easy to plug in. Compared to the 16GB M2 option at product #6, this model has less RAM but costs less if storage is your priority over multitasking headroom.
Good to know: As a renewed product, this comes with a 90-day warranty rather than Apple’s standard coverage. Check the seller’s condition rating and reviews before buying during the sale.
Chip: M1
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 256GB
Display: 13.3-inch Retina
Weight: 2.7 lb
Battery: 15 hours
Now several generations old, the M1 MacBook Air still has the largest owner review base in this lineup at 2539 reviews. That kind of track record is rare in the renewed market and makes it the safest budget bet for shoppers who just need a reliable laptop.
The late 2020 MacBook Air with M1 remains the most affordable way into Apple’s laptop ecosystem. The M1 chip, while older, still handles web browsing, document editing, and media streaming with ease. For basic computing tasks, it performs surprisingly well for a chip now several generations old.
At just 2.7 pounds, it matches the portability of newer models. Battery life reaches up to 15 hours, which is slightly less than the M2 and M5’s 18 hours but still enough for a full workday. The fanless design keeps it silent during operation, and the 13.3-inch Retina display still looks sharp for everyday use.
Compared with the M2 256GB at product #3: the M1 costs less but has a lower-resolution 720p camera, slightly shorter battery life, and an older chip. If your budget is tight and you mainly browse the web and edit documents, the M1 is worth watching during the sale. For a more future-proof pick, consider the M2 renewed options instead.
Chip: M2
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 512GB
Display: 13.3-inch Liquid Retina
Weight: 2.7 lb
Battery: 18 hours
Best for: multitaskers who need 16GB RAM and 512GB storage in a renewed package.
This higher-spec renewed MacBook Air stands out for its 16GB of unified memory, making it the best pick if you run multiple apps simultaneously or work with memory-intensive tasks. The 512GB SSD gives you room for files, and the M2 chip handles everything smoothly. You get 18 hours of rated battery life plus a fingerprint reader for security.
The 13.3-inch Liquid Retina display offers the same quality as other M2 models, and the premium build feels solid in hand. With 373 reviews and a 4.2-star rating, it has fewer reviews than other renewed options but the higher specs justify the price difference for users who need the extra RAM.
Skip it if: you’re on a strict budget. The 8GB M2 models at products #3 and #4 cost less and handle everyday tasks fine. Save this 16GB option for when you know you need the multitasking headroom.
The M5 chip in the newest MacBook Air models delivers the best performance and AI capabilities, making it the right choice if you want a laptop that stays current for years. The M2 chip, introduced in 2022, still handles everyday computing with ease and offers strong value in renewed options. The M1, Apple’s first Apple silicon chip from 2020, remains capable for basic tasks like web browsing, document editing, and media streaming at the lowest price point.
16GB of unified memory is ideal for multitaskers who keep many apps open or work with larger files. The M5 models in this list both come with 16GB standard. For storage, 512GB suits most users who store photos, videos, and applications locally. The 256GB options work for cloud-dependent users, but files add up quickly with modern applications.
The 15-inch MacBook Air offers a significantly larger workspace for productivity tasks like document editing, spreadsheet work, and split-screen multitasking. The 13-inch models weigh less and fit more easily in bags and on small desks. Both sizes offer Liquid Retina quality on the M5 and M2 models, so the choice comes down to how you work.
New MacBook Air models come with Apple’s full warranty and the latest specs. Renewed options from Amazon Renewed undergo testing and include a minimum 90-day warranty, offering significant savings if you’re comfortable with pre-owned hardware. Check seller ratings and condition descriptions carefully, and remember that renewed warranties are shorter than Apple’s standard coverage.
Some MacBook Air listings include accessories like cases, sleeves, or software bundles. Evaluate whether these add-ons match what you actually need. A bundle with a protective sleeve might save money versus buying separately. For context on shopping Amazon sales events for other categories, see our guide to Amazon Prime Day air fryer deals.
