Scare Tactics by US Chamber of Commerce

This ad is completely disingenuous and utterly cynical. It’s an oxymoron for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the biggest pro-business lobby, to extol the limitations of technology to solve a global problem. The ad has no justifications for their claim.Since the government hasn’t regulated the energy industry, there are already people in this country living like this cute portrayal, trying to choose between heating, driving their car at $3 per gallon, daycare and food. Burying our head in the sand will make the problem worse.

Americans use ten times the energy and resources of people in other parts of the world. The idea that we have to wait for a technological breakthrough to live green is preposterous; if Americans lived like the rest of the world, instead of sucking up an order of magnitude more resources than we needed, it's debatable there would even be a climate problem.

Ridiculous! We have all of the technology we need to solve the climate crisis. What we lack is the human behavioral shift in values and actions, ads like this certainly don't help.

One, I have never heard of this bill so obviously they are hoping to play on our stupidity. Two, I really doubt that one bill proposal that I have never heard of would make life dramtically different to the point where we had nothing that uses energy. BIG exaggeration.

The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change, you know the one that shared a little thing called the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, clearly states that the technology already exists to mitigate the effects of climate change. By resisting change instead of investing in energy reduction, renewable energy sources and sustainable infrastructure, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is lobbying to hamstring U.S. industrial competitiveness for the next century. Good job guys.

This makes me regret rating the GE ad as a 5. Only something this deceitful should get that number.

I wouldn't call this greenwashing because they are not even pretending to have a green message. I would agree with jmarkey112 in that it is completely cynical. An industry that on the one hand touts the unfounded technology of "clean" coal, but on the other hand claims that technology cannot fix our problems is being contradicting itself and lying.
